It's been a year so I'm reflecting back on our best baby items. I left out all the toys etc but you can look back at other posts to see the other toys and other smaller items. Here are the links for more in detailed posts from all the months 0-3 Must Haves, 3-6 Must Haves, 6-9 Must Haves ! Anyways I'm just highlighting some of the best of the best items we have used this past year.
Sleeping Items
The Podster- He lived in this for the first 3 weeks. He loved how cozy it was and it was all he was pretty much in.
The Swing - Leo wasn't a big mamaroo fan for sleeping. He loved to just hangout in it but not actually for sleeping. So I picked up this swing at a second hand store and he would take most of his daytime naps in it for the first 4 months.
The Bouncy Seat - This was a life saver for us and our fussy baby. We ate way too many meals with him on the floor and our foot bouncing it. We can even now still can get him to take a quick cat nap in this if needed. And he also uses it now to sit in and hangout. This was probably the best buy, we used it everyday for the first 7 months.
Rock And Play- The first few months we put Leo in this at night. We started every night in the crib and he usually ended up in the Rock and Play. He loved this darn thing! I think he liked being propped up. We also swore by these sleep sacks.
Things TO Entertain Me
Walker- Before Leo had figured out crawling he loved being in his walker. It was a way to be mobile.
The frog chair was a life saver, it served as our outdoor high chair and he was it in morning noon and night as I cooked in they kitchen. This kid loved his frog chair!
Travel Friendly Items
Ergo Baby and Osprey Carrier were our best friends for hiking and traveling!
Loved these car seat and stroller cover. We ended up going to a second hand baby store and getting a umbrella stroller for travel.
Game Changers
Game Changer.....A BIGGER CAR SEAT! Leo wasn't a fan of the infant car seat, he would cry and cry and cry. I was so over it so I decided to try putting him in a convertible car seat. We put him in it around 5 months and I wish we would of done it sooner. He never has cried again in this car seat.
Grocery Cart Cover- This guy is my favorite grocery store buddy thanks to this cart cover.
We are BIG BIG BIG fans of the Phil and Ted high chair. Mostly because of how easy it is to clean.
BOOKS BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS
We have a book worm on our hands. This guy love books so much. We probably read 20-30 books a day. Most of the time it is the same book that we read over and over again. He gets obsessed with a new book every few days. But we are big fans of books and I think you can never go wrong giving a gift of a book.
How We Will Remember
We are doing a baby book but we also go these Savor Keepsake boxes. I love this as a way to save all of his favorite items. I think they are so cool and very practical. Plus it allows you to keep some of their favorite and memorable baby items but not save EVERY baby item or kid drawing.
Our MVPS
Dock A Tot in both sizes! We swear by the Dock A Tot, actually we live and die by the Dock A Tot!! We got this as a gift and Leo fell in love with it. We were back and forth between houses the first 4 months and having the same sleeping environment. Once he outgrew this we tried to get him to sleep without the dock a tot but we weren't successful. So we ended up buying the bigger Dock. He loves this one too!
Babywise- We had an amazing sleeper I believe thanks to the book BabyWise. Leo was sleeping through the night (8 hrs) by 6 weeks. Although we did hit some sleep regression around 4 months that set us back a little. At 6 months we were on a solid nap and sleep schedule. Leo at a year sleeps 12-14 hrs STRAIGHT at night and takes two naps each 1.5 hrs. I thank this book for guiding me to creating a good sleeper. And mind you we started sleep training around 3 weeks, I know that sounds mean but our child never cried more than 20 minutes before falling asleep. I think that is because we started letting him fuss when he was so little.
Snuggles......
This guy's version of a baby blanket. We got the Lion as a gift and now have about 6 of these. He ended up attaching to the duck blanket. We have one in the car, one at each grandparents house, one downstairs, 3 upstairs. We are addicted!!
