Sometimes I crave breaded chicken, but since I'm gluten free that isn't an option. So I decided to make fake "breaded" chicken using quinoa instead of bread crumbs. This was my first time making it and I loved how it turned out. The quinoa was crunchy and we still made it a little unhealthy by adding in some cheese. It was one of those "healthy meals" you don't even know is healthy. The best part is my husband enjoyed it and has asked for me to make it again! So that must mean it's a "winner"!
Summer is upon us, so time to get outside and get your workout on. My girlfriend and I have been doing weekly challenges. Last week we did 100 burpees a day for 10 days. It was a great way to keep moving throughout the day. Most days I'd break them up into 10 or 20 and do them throughout the day, but a few days I incorporated them into a workout. It was a good one so I figured I'd write it down it is a great workout cause you don't need any equipment or alot of time. So lace up your tennis shoes, head outside in your backyard and give this workout a try.
This post is inspired by my mother so I felt like this picture was fitting. I swear every time I call my Mom to ask for advice, her advice always includes something about lemons. Here is how the conversation goes, "Mom, there is a stain on Leo's onesie but I can't bleach it what should I do". My mom replies, "put a lemon on it." "Hey Mom, I still have that dark line running down my stomach from pregnancy." My mom, "put lemon on it. "Mom, I have a sore throat." My mom, "gargle with lemon water." You see her answer for everything is lemons. So in honor of her I decided to put together all the uses I use lemons around my house for!
Time to break out that old jump rope of yours for a HIIT workout. Did you know that jump rope burns more calories than pretty much any other exercise equipment, 760 calories per hour. But let's be honest I am not jumping rope for an hour, that would be a great feat. For me jumping rope works great because it requires a little amount of time and you can do it in the comforts of your living room. I came up with this little 15 minute workout, you'll be surprised how great of a workout it is in such a short amount of time.
My gym use to offer this crazy intense treadmill workout. Over the years I kind of have adapted it to fit more of my workout style and I do it a lot on my own now. I love it because you can make it crazy hard if you are feeling super motivated, but even if you do this workout half assed you will still walk away feeling like you got a great work out. It only takes 15 minutes….or 30 minutes if you are hard core and want to go through it twice! For one minute you are on the treadmill (at a different incline each time) giving it your all. For the next minute you move off the treadmill and do the floor exercise. Obviously you won't be sprinting too hard when you are at a 10 incline, but just give it your best. The floor exercises might feel like a nice break at the beginning, but by the end of that minute you will be ready to get back on that treadmill! Happy sweating,
