Spring Cleaning

It is that time of the year... Spring Cleaning! We have all watched Marie Kondo by now and hopefully did some major organizing and cleaning out your closets, garage, kitchen, office etc. This spring cleaning isn't about closet organizing and what to donate, but it is about deep cleaning. Something that isn't quite my favorite thing to do but I makes sure on the weekends in the Spring I take some time to deep clean. I also outsource one part of my cleaning every year and that's my carpets or my furniture. So here are 5 things I do every Spring! 

Carpet Cleaning- I try and every Spring get something professionally cleaned. Last Spring I had my couch professionally cleaned and this Spring I decided I was time to do the carpet a few rooms in our house. After I saw the dirt and grime that came up I will be making sure the living room and our play room get cleaned every year.   did an amazing job and took the time to explain the processes. What I loved is that no chemicals are used. We spend so much time on the carpet with Monroe so that is so important to me to not have any added solutions or chemicals. Zerorez uses  enhanced water that is electrolyzed and oxidized to create a powerful cleaning solution without harmful toxins or chemicals. 

Deep Clean My Window Sills and Screens-   We have south facing windows that get slammed by the wind and dirt. So come spring I can't wait to open my window and clean them out. Can you believe the amount of dirt (photo on left). I simply vacuumed them out, but one thing people often forget to vacuum is the screens. I always vacuums the screens on my windows. 

​Seal My Quartz/Quartzite- I try and seal my kitchen counters a few times a year but every spring I do all the counter tops in the kitchen and all the bathroom counters. I just picked up some sealer from Home Depot. Our kitchen island is a soft quartzite so basically acts the same as marble so we try and stay on top of it being sealed but I only do our quartz bathroom counters and other quartz surfaces one time a year. 

Major Wipe Down- I went a lot of timing wiping things down, from kitchen cabinet, to bathroom doors, to even the trim. I went room by room over a couple days and would tackle each room. That made it seem less overwhelming. 

Toys- We not only cleaned out toys and got rid of a few. Leo is a big time toy kid and literally plays with all of his toys, but I try and throw away the cheap little McDonalds toys that he doesn't use. Then I also went through and wiped all of them down and sanitized them. I don't like using clorox for our toys I simply just use hot water and a little dawn dish soap. 

I got a little head start of my Spring cleaning this year but that leaves me more time for additional cleaning. One thing that is on my to do list this Spring is to vacuum my mattress and after talking to the Zerorez guys I think this fall we are going to have our mattress professionally cleaned. Don't even get my started on the information they told me about the dead skin cells. I wash my sheets every week and have a mattress protector but they still say they get in. So I'm going to vacuum them. 

Mind you as a parent I get we have less time to do this kind of stuff so I just try and tackle one small project. This week I spent doing a little extra work in my laundry room and cleaned and organized it. Next week I'm targeting my entry way closet and entry way catch all bench.
