It is that dreaded time of year where you might be going stir crazy with your kids indoors 24/7. Although we do bundle up and go outside most days we don't last longer usually than 30 minutes and Leo and I are ready to come in. Thankfully we have tons of Christmas toys to play with but there comes at time for us stay at home mamas when you want to pull your hair out because you run out of things to do. I wanted to come up with a general list then also a few ideas about things you can your kiddos can enjoy locally or take a little drive and check out some new areas.
Indoor Home ACTIVITIES
Kids Crafts- Thank you Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby has these great little kids paint and sticker crafts for $2.99. We keep a little tupperwear full of art projects for Leo to do. When I need to squeeze out 20 more minutes of entertainment this is where I go. Pinterest also has great ideas for winter crafts.
Milk Date- Leo and I have a weekly "milk date" every Tuesday we head to Starbucks and I pack his backpack full of toys. We both get a drink and play with something in his bag from the animals to playdoh we have a blast getting out of the house and he loves our little date time.
Change of Scenery- I know this is HUGE for us. Those days I wanna pull my hair out I often find ourselves in the bathtub (aka boat) fully clothed playing with cars. I switch out toys from upstairs to downstairs. I change out the toys in his bedroom. Discovering old toys that they think are new is the best. Another great thing we do is for lunch we have an indoor picnic. Simply just set up a blanket in the living room or another room in the house and enjoy lunch there.
Old School Fun - I know this sounds really simple but grab a few of your kids cars or figurines and go into that bathroom turn on your iPhone flashlight and have some good ole fashion fun making shadow puppets. Leo has all the toys in the world and these are the things he loves to do, Shadow puppets, hide and go seek, build a fort, tea parties (Leo isn't interested in these but little girls might be), and dinosaur hunting.
I wanted to share the activity for our house this week. Rainbow Shaving Cream Bath Paint! I found it on this blog check it out HERE!
Also we switched out our sensory bin this last week. We had a rice sensory bin but this week we swapped it over for beans. We also switched out all the toys in it so right now we have all construction toys in it. Walmart and Target have great places to swap out the items in the sensory bin.
Here is another great website for winter activities for Toddlers! Check it out HERE! Basically a little internet research does everyone good. It is amazing the ideas that are out there if you go look online.

Local Things To Do- Tri-Cities Area
We don't live in a place where we have children museums, aquariums or other indoor activities. So this requires us to get a little more creative with our time. A fellow SATM and I were trying to come up with some things to do locally and here is what we came up with.
If you are willing to travel here are a few more ideas.
Winters can be tough and you can go stir crazy so reach out to other moms for playdates and activity ideas! We are better as a community so let's share our ideas! I'd love to share your favorite winter kid activity, I know we could use a lot more ideas.
Cheers,
Jess
