So I was browsing through another person blog and saw this thing where you take 10 photos throughout 1 day. I thought what a great idea, I think this blog post is more for me than other people. As it is a bit of a photo journal to document our day. We did this when Jay was off work so that he could take some photos as well as be in some. I thought this would be a great thing to encourage you mamas to do for Mother's Day. You don't need a fancy camera just grab your iPhone and start snapping. I know I am going to want to remember these chaotic and amazing times in our house. One day I am going to miss the days when my house was full of toys and little baby giggles and I am glad I stopped and took some photos of it.
Breakfast help because we all need extra help from a 2 year old in the kitchen at 8am. Leo helping with breakfast takes twice the amount of time but he loves it and it is a great time to teach him about food and cooking.
Breakfast with trucks and kangaroos. I think I spent more time wiping down his toys after breakfast than cleaning his little hands.
Jay or I try to spend 30 minutes of undivided time with Leo after breakfast and before we get going in the morning. Mornings are my favorite time of the day with him and most days we are in our pjs till 9:30am. On today's agenda was a marble run!!! This toy has been a big hit in our house for Leo and for "Dad".
Morning makeup time, this is still one of my favorite little spaces in my entire house.
He's changed and ready to go but I have a BIG BIG BIG RULE in our house. If Leo brings me a book I drop EVERYTHING and will read it to him. He loves to read and I always want to encourage him to keep reading. As you can see we are loving this book as seen in the faces.
Around noon Leo takes a 2 hour nap..... and so are our animals Daz, Bonkers, and Arson.
So during these 2 hours naps I usually tackle a home project. Today I redid our dining room decor for spring. Adding some fresh flowers to the dark room.
He's AWAKE from nap! Leo wakes up in the morning at 7:30 happy and pretty much stays that way all day. He has such an easy going and happy mentality. There is always a smile on his face which leads to a big smile on ours.
It's 4pm and we are in cruise control for the rest of the rest of the day. We had just planted our garden the day before so we had to go check on everything and do a little extra watering with the warm weather. I usually start dinner around 5pm and we eat at 6pm. We play outside (now) or do an activity then start bath at 7:15. It is bath and ALOT of books (probably 6-7) before bed. This excessive book reading is totally my doing as I keep adding new books to his little library in his room. It is selfish as I cherish the time when we sit in our chair and read books.
Let's face it we are never ready for bed! Leo's new favorite activity is extreme crib jumping which includes twists and twirls. It was important to me to get a few shots of him in his crib one last time as later this month we transitioning him into a big boy bed. I haven't had a hard time with all the big milestones in his life so far but for some reason changing his room from a babies room to a little boy's room is just really sad for me. I just wish I could freeze these years and make them last forever.
So yes I'll admit it this post was TOTALLY FOR ME! But I challenge all you mamas on a weekend to take 10 photos of your day. And try and get yourself and your husband in a few. You'll forever cherish them. And like I said you don't need a fancy camera or worry about perfect lighting just grab your iPhone and snap away. I think this is a great little present to yourself for Mother's Day!
Cheers,
Jess
