I had a few issues with my pregnancy with Leo that didn't allow me to workout as much as I wanted to and I really had to watch my heart rate with that pregnancy. Thankfully, this pregnancy I don't have the same issues so I've been able to work out a lot more. Although week 8-14 I had to take off cause I was so miserable with all day sickness. I was able to continue all my workout classes up until 8.5 weeks and I was having some of the best workouts I have had in years. Anyways, after my little month break I have been able to continue to workout at the gym 2 days a week and at home 2 additional days. So today I am going over my "go to" workouts. Since I only get to the gym twice a week I like to do more "complex" workouts vs working just my arms or just my legs. You don't have to be pregnant to do these obviously as I continue them when I'm not pregnant. I just increase the weight and decrease rest time in between when I am not pregnant..... oh and usually add in burpees and box jumps! Dare I say it.... I miss burpees.
So I've been crazy about eye cream for years. I wish I could tell you I have an eye cream that I love love love but what I have noticed is as I have age or the season's change my under eyes require something a little different. With this pregnancy my skin is really dry so I've been really into gels which is something I have never used before. So I am sharing my top 10 eye creams and the best part of the top 10 is that 5 or 6 are all under $30. You don't always have to pay an arm and a leg for eye cream. And if I could tell my 18 year old self anything I'd say start using eye creams NOW. I didn't really get into them till about 24 (which is younger than most) but I wish I would of started even earlier.
First off SORRY if you are sick or if your family is sick. I think the entire country is dealing with it. I got a cold a week ago and have still yet to kick it. So if the cold or flu is sweeping through your household. Here are a few measures you can take to get you feeling better.
Well it is the middle of Jan and I bet there are already so many resolutions that haven't stuck. Heck I already messed up and didn''t buy organic tomatoes or strawberries at the store yesterday. So because I'm not an expert I often times don't feel like I am an advice expert. But I"m just trying to live my life the best way I know how. 2017 was a great year with a few bumps along the road. So one of my resolutions was spending more undivided time with my son in 2018. What I realized is I haven't been able to do that with perfection, hence why I haven't blogged about it. I realized first that before I pour more time crawling around on the floor playing "dinosaur" I need to spend a little time to reflect on myself and the direction I want 2018 to go. So here are a few new realizations I've made that have provided a change in my perspective.
So I have a million new years resolutions this year. Normally I struggle to find one or two but this year there seem to be a lot of changes I am wanting to make in my life. I plan on doing some blog posts about my changes in 2018. Although I won't be doing a blog post on deleting the candy crush app. Cause when the clock struck 10:30pm (my bedtime on NYE) that app was deleted . It was taking up time when I could be productive or playing with my child. It felt so good to delete something so addicting. Anyways, enough about candy crush. Let's talk about one of my new years resolutions. Keeping a closer eye on what products I am feeding my family and what products I should be buying that are organic. So lets talk abut the dirty dozen.
A few months ago I started eating more plant based. By no means am I a vegetarian or vegan. 90% of the dinners, 50% of my lunches, and 10% of my breakfasts at our house include meat. In fact I write this blog post as I eat a bowl of carrots, celery, and tuna fish. But the last 3 months I have gone more plant based with my diet. The reason I started doing this is because the older I've gotten the more grossed out with the texture of meat. I also started cutting out dairy when I was nursing Leo and I liked the way I felt. Although I still eat cheese I have really gotten into all the cheese alternatives.
I recently hosted a girls night unlike any other. I have been wanting to host a girls night but one with a purpose. I am constantly asking Jay to remind me how to do CPR on a child as well as walk me through the steps if Leo was choking. I feel very lucky that Jay is so well versed in CPR but not everyone has that luxury. So the idea was born to host a CPR girls night. This is something that all Mom's should do..... more about this informational night below.
Hi there I can't believe we are almost a week into fall. My house is already decorated in halloween/fall stuff and I have my fall scents going in my scentsy warmer.....but it has been 80 degrees. I am so glad we live in a place where we have 4 seasons cause I AM SO OVER SUMMER. I have always been drawn to fall colors hence why I had a fall wedding and I also love all the fall clothes. So when I saw this plaid shirt on Zara I had to have it. I mean how much more fall can you get than a traditional red and black plaid shirt...... with embroidery on the back. Ummm hello did Zara design this shirt with me in mind. I think so!
Two weeks ago I talked about some terrible sleep habits (check out that post HERE). And from that post I tried to make some changes in my sleep habits, mostly having a consistent bed time and wake up time. And I'm happy to report that setting a sleep schedule seems to be helping ALOT. What I have noticed if I try and lay down too early I just end up tossing and turning. I think for me the biggest help has been realizing my natural bed time. I am not a morning person I am much more of a night owl so going to bed a little later at 11pm and waking up at 7/7:30 am works for me. But I know not everyone has the joy of waking up at 7 or a touch later. I'm here to give you some more healthy sleep habits and hopefully correct the bad sleeping habits I talked about last week.
Ok so I might have the WORST SLEEPING HABITS. I have been a bad sleeper since I can remember. My Mom said I was a good sleeper as a baby and a kid but I remember around middle school my sleeping problems beginning. The first being I CAN'T FALL ASLEEP at night. I used to sleep with a radio so I could listen to music to keep me entertained at night when the lights had to be off. This problem of not being able to fall asleep still continues in adulthood for me. Today I'm going over some of the worst sleep habits, I literally have all of them... then next week I will post about healthy sleep habits and hopefully this blog post will help me implement them into my life and help me kick these bad habits.
