So I kind of skipped over spring cleaning here because it went straight from winter to summer. Normally we get some rainy and windy days in the spring but starting in March we started getting almost 80 degree weather. Then we had visitors and plans so I am finally getting around to doing a little spring cleaning and it feels so good. Today I'm going over 10 things you should throw away!
*note this is not my pantry.... I wish!
Let The Cleaning Begin
1. Pantry-
For goodness sakes I had 2 coffee makers, 2 different type of blenders and the list continues. I also threw out a lot of old food and condensed certain things into containers. One doesn't need 3 separate bags of flour.
2. Workout / Lazy Day Clothes
I am one that cleans out my clothes pretty often but I tend to not look in the drawers as much as the hanging items. So this go around I tackled my workout clothes and my lazy day clothes.
3. Pet Supplies
Well I had about 40 collars for Arson, old leashes and very expired medicines. This stuff sits tucked away in our laundry room so I didn't think to even think about cleaning out the pet supplies. But you'd be surprised how much stuff you have for your pet.
4. Entryway or coat closet
So this is on my list but I haven't tackled it yet. I mean I can't do all of them at once right. We don't really have a junk drawer but we do have a big entry way closet that seems to be our catch all area. This needs some major TLC so one of these days when I have the motivation to do so I will clean this baby out.
5. Junk Drawer
Thankfully we don't have a huge one at our house. We have somehow limited it to one tiny drawer in our kitchen. When we moved I made it a point to not junk up our drawers although like I said above a lot of stuff then moved to the entryway closet.
6. Freezer
We have lived in this house for a year and I think this was the first time I have cleaned out our freezer and holy moly it needed it. I didn't realized how many frozen peas and frozen corn I had. One doesn't need that much frozen veggies.

Kids Specific Items
This one is pretty hard cause we all hate throwing things out for our kiddos. I know since we are having another child I haven't thrown away as much. But since I am pretty sure we will probably be done at 2 I have been getting rid of a few more things.
7. Unloved Toys-
Leo is a big toy kid, LOVES his toys. I don't throw out too many yet except the gimmick little ones. What I do tend to do is put toys away for a month or two and bring them back out. I know after this baby we will start throwing more toys away or donating them as we move out of the baby stages.
8 Clothes-
This is one I keep up on. At first I saved all of Leo's clothes in tupperware but since we having a girl this go around I am only saving some of my favorite items. Now don't get me too much credit. I went from having 6 tupperware in the garage of his clothes to 3. But that's 50% less. Once I know we are totally done having kids I think I will try and get it down to just 1 tupperware per kid to save.
9. Art work-
My mom recently asked me to come over and look over all my old artwork and see if I wanted any. My husband and I cracked up that she had saved literally all of my brother and I's artwork as kids. I am trying my best not to save everything so I have a little display area where I display my favorite pieces of art and change them out every time I get a new piece that I love.

10. Keepsakes-
You don't have to save every little keepsake. I got these amazing little boxes that I can keep Leo's keepsakes. Not everything has to be a keepsake I just keep things that tend to be more sentimental to Leo or myself. Not every personalized item or gift have to be saved. I want to save the things I remember most about Leo like his special snug, a silver dollar from the year he was born and a little sand dollar we got on our first trip to the Oregon Coast.
I hope this helps you get going on your spring or summer cleaning.
Cheers,
Jess
