Ok I lied in this post title..... I wish it was 10 simple items to throw away, but it's more like 10 different places to clean! These are all the places and things you neglect to clean every year. I wasn't able to take on all 10, but I did do quite a few. I threw away/donated so much and it felt SO good. Happy cleaning my friends.
Let The Cleaning Begin
1. Office Supplies and Drawers-
A few items that can go.... bills, paperwork that is over 5 years old, old notebooks, pens, pencils, old greeting card are just a few things that were in my desk drawers that I finally got rid of. How about old textbooks? My husband has a few from medical school that he won't part with and it drives me crazy.
2. Entryway or Coat Closet-
I'm needing to do this one. I have a bag that houses all the loose screws, nuts, bolts, and a bunch of things that I have no clue where they belong. Time to toss them, you'll probably end up going to Home Depot to get a new screw before you even remember to look in your coat closet. How about umbrellas? I have like 5 in my closet in PDX, I don't think I need that many. This closet tends to house stuff you don't want to deal with. So carve out some time this week and clean it out.

t3. Makeup-
We all need can benefit on cleaning out our makeup drawer. It'll take 5 minutes and make you feel accomplished. Remember mascara should be thrown out every 2 months. Or how about that free eye shadow palette from the makeup counter that you never used. Time to toss it. Don't forget about the dried up nail polish and the little shampoo bottles from a hotel you stayed at 5 years ago.
4. Old Towels and Rags-
You probably don't need all 20 of them do you. Keep a few and toss the rest.

5. Kitchen Drawers and Cabinets-
Toss the promotional cups you got at a beer tasting event and do you really need 20 coffee mugs? Also purge your drawers of duplicate kitchen utensils.
6. Reusable Bags-
For some reason I have ended up with a million of these. I don't need them all. So I have kept the best ones that I use the most and donate the rest.
7. Cords and Gadgets
What are you going to do with those old iphone covers? Toss them and don't forget to throw out the old cords as well.
8. Unloved Toys-
We aren't there yet cause Leo doesn't even play with toys. But we are loving getting my niece and nephew hand me down toys. So when head into your toy room and clean out the toys that your kids are no longer using. Give them to a friend or donate them. I am always willing to accept hand me downs and I bet you'd be surprised how many of your new mommy friends would enjoy giving a second life to these toys.
9. Books-
This one might be hard to do I always feel bad giving away books. So I always make sure to donate them so someone else can enjoy them as much as I did. Plus it frees up more shelf space for new books, like all my pregnancy and baby books that now consume my shelves.
10. Junk Drawer-
EEEKKK I am not looking forward to doing this one. Do you have a few take out menus you never look at? My junk drawer is currently littered with batteries, candles, flower cutting scissors, ultrasound pictures, among other things. Needless to say I need to spend some time cleaning it out.
Cheers and Good Luck,
Jess
