I am sure happy about how our baby boy's nursery came together. So proud that I had to share it with you. I have been dreaming about this nursery since I can remember. My Grandpa was a WWII fighter pilot, I grew up listening to all of his stories of the war. He was a hero to many especially all of his grandchildren. I had a very special bond with my Grandpa thankfully he lived into his 90s and we were all able to spend alot of time with him. It had been my dream to have a nursery themed after him. My Mom had saved and framed his fighter jacket and I have always loved looking at it. When we found out we were having a boy I asked my mom if I could have the jacket for the baby's room. So the jacket as seen in the far left of the photo was the simple inspiration for this ALL BOY airplane nursery.
The bigger question was how was this going to all come together... all I knew is I wanted the room centered around the jacket. I decided to focus a little on planes but also on a color scheme of blue, bright blue, white, and silver. My first step was painting the entire room white then doing a blue and white stripped wall. It is hard to see in these photos cause the light is awful so don't mind the yellow hint of things I had to turn the lights on to capture these photos.
We were searching for something for this wall and my Mom found this push pin map on etsy and got it for us for Christmas. A map goes well with the plane theme. My hope is that this map can grow with him from room to room. And more importantly I hope is that this map will be filled with push pins mapping his adventures around the world.
This rug was the last purchase we made to the nursery. We wanted something that tied the room together and this rug did the trick. My Mom and I searched all over for a rug and ended up getting this one at Pottery Barn, they actually had really competitive prices and great designs.
We offset the blue stripped walls with his name written in these Hobby Lobby tin letters. Deciding how to hang these letters on the stripped wall was a feat. I love the letters, but they made me want to pull my hair out trying to figure out the perfect spacing. Thankfully my husband is good at that kind of stuff and he took over this frustrating job.
I didn't want to do all white in this room, so I found this more rustic looking dresser. I felt like it made the room look more "masculine" and kept with the theme.
This is another favorite feature of his room, these are actual framed photos of my Grandpa and his planes. We wanted this room to pay homage to him and I am so thankful we had these photos of him.
After chatting with many of my mommy friends they recommended not going with the "cutest" chair but going with the most comfortable chair. My In Laws bought us this La-z Boy in a slate grey color. Holy smokes it is comfortable and I'm so glad we went with the comfort over the style.
Another favorite feature of this room is the quilt that sits on the chair. A family friend made it for me, I have been hoping to get a home made quilt and this one not only ties into his room perfectly, but means more to me for many reasons.
And what is room in my house without a few glassybaby, I already owned all these colors so I added them to the side table. I also found these cute little plane lamps at target that keep with the plane theme.

My husband found this adorable little plane rocker for his room. I can't wait for him to be old enough to try it out!
All in all it turned out exactly how we wanted. It is surely ALL BOY and has plane elements without being overwhelmingly plane themed. What I love most is that there are a few pieces in his room that hold so much meaning to me, like the jacket, pictures, and the quilt. The best part is that we did most of his room on a budget, we only really splurged on his crib and the chair and thankfully our parents bought them for us. Everything else we hunted around and got for a good price! I hope this all boy room inspires you and your nursery. The trend in nurseries are very neutral right now so this is definitely an alternative to that.
Cheers,
Jess
