With everyone worried about Coronavirus I thought this might be a good time to share some ideas for a staycation at home with your kids. While we are washing our hands often and changing our clothes once we have been around town, we are not taking any other precautions. We are evening flying next week, all Jay has said to me about it is "it is coming". But from what I have learned about it is it isn't really that bad for people who aren't in the high risk category. I urge you to do your own research and do what makes you feel comfortable for your family. So if you are trying to lay low here are a few activities.
I love doing special evenings and activities for my kids or when my brothers kids spend the night. So I thought I'd share with you some fun staycation ideas. As Spring Break approaches this might be fun to do if you aren't planning on heading out of town.

Indoor Camping-
Tents, popcorn, flash lights, projectors the whole thing. We started doing this with Leo about 2 years ago and it has been a hit. We blow up our air matrress get our tents and his tee-pee out and prepare for a fun night of camping in our living room. In the summer we camp out by our pool and enjoy swimming and movie. The best new little product we have gotten and used a ton is the cinemood projector, you can project a movie off of netflix or amazon onto any walls. We have even projected it onto our ceiling or at Christmas we projected it onto the wall in the bath tub. Make sure you recreate the outdoors by turning off all the lights and letting the kids use headlamps and flashlights. This is probably Leo's favorite part. Then in the morning our little tradition is a picnic breakfast in the living room. Even though I use the kitchen to cook the joy of spreading out a blanket and eating on the floor is so fun for the kids.

Let's Travel-
Pick a different country for the night. Eat the authentic food, plan a craft that is that countries them, teach your children hello and thank you in that language, listen to music from the country, and maybe even have a little fun decorating. I foresee myself going way overboard on this one.
Let's just imagine taking your family to Paris.
-Buy your family croissants or make crepes
-Craft- Recreate a famous Monet painting (pinterest has tons of kids ideas for recreating Monet)
- Roll out your butcher paper and make an Eiffel Tower
-Listen to french music
The list goes on and on. I am going to do something like this soon and I will share all my pictures and ideas with you.

Compete in at home games-
Make a bracket with names and points and having an overall winner maybe even pick out a cool prize for the winning team. I think this could be a really fun night for older kiddos. I once was dating a guy a billion years ago and I remember we did an entire "competition day" with like running competitions, mini-golf, and then some board games. I remember thinking it was super fun so basically doing that with your family at home. I'm sure you could even come up with some good outdoor games or competitions to get the kids energy out. I know we love setting up obstacle courses in the yard or the pool and timing the kids on it. Moral of the story make teams compete against each other and have a little fun competition day for your family.

Have A Themed Day-
This goes off the armchair travel day but instead pick a theme. This would be easy to do for kids all ages. I could totally see doing a sea creature day, reading books about sharks or whales. Doing a craft that revolved around sea creatures. Making a "ocean" with water beads and having the kids play with their ocean animals in the beads. Then ending the night watching a movie like Finding Nemo. For older kids you could do a sports themed day or something they can relate more to.
