A few weeks ago I was visiting my girlfriend in Cleveland, we stopped for lunch and I had the most delicious black bean burger. I have dreaming of this burger ever since I got back home. I finally had to take action and try to replicate it.
Over the last few years I have really been trying to cut down on my meat intake. This is for numerous reasons, but mainly for my health and the health of our environment. Note, I am literally writing this while the hubs is watching a show titled "Meat Eater" so becoming a vegetarian in this house hold is probably not likely. But making small changes and throwing in a few meatless meals a week is a step in the right direction.
These black bean burgers make it pretty easy, you won't be missing the meat at this meal.

Ingredients:
Directions:
In a medium bowl mash the black beans using fork. You want it pretty mashed, but with a few whole beans remaining. Then add all remaining ingredients and mix well.
Place a large frying pan over medium heat.
Using your hands form 4 good sized balls. I like to wait until I get them on the pan before I flatten them in to patties. If you flatten them before hand they can be hard to transfer to the pan. Cook until lightly browned, usually 4 minutes on each side. If desired add cheese at this point.
Cheers,
