Holy smokes I have been on a big book binge the last year. I thought when I first had Leo I'd never be able to read again but that clearly wasn't the case. Although I will say 80% of the books I "read" I actually don't read I listen to as audio books. I found that with Leo when we are playing outside or in the house I can listen to a book and still play with him. Plus it takes me an hour or longer to fall asleep at night so I listen to book then. Don't get my wrong I do love sitting down to read as well and I just bought a few new books for summer. This post is going through my favorite books over the past year.
Light Reads/Beach Reads-
Sweet Bitter- Stephanie Danler *This book is set in NYC and is all about restaurant life. It has ended up being one of my favorite books I've ever checked out from the library.
The Rumor- Elin Hildebrand * Ultimate beach read it takes place on the is land of Nantucket with two best friends.
Yes Please- Amy Poehler * I don't know why but this has been my favorite autobiography I have ever read.
The Longest Ride- Nicholas Sparks * I mean cowboys and a sorority girl..... major summer read.
Me Before You - *I'm sure you have read this but if you haven't it is such a good read.
A Million Little Things- Susan Mallery * Lighthearted, girlie book, perfect for a beach read.
My (not so) Perfect Life- Sophie Kinsella *Lighthearted book about a girl trying to live her perfect life on instagram.
Thrillers / Murder Mysteries (aka page turners):
A Stranger In The House- Shari Lapena *OMG this book and The Couple Next Door were serious page turners. I loved these two books with their twists and turns.
The Couple Next Door- Sharpi Lapena* I think I finished this book in 48 hours so good!
Woman In Cabin 10- Ruth Ware *Another popular book out right now, but it is popular for a reason. So good!
Don't Let Go- Harlan Coben * I had got this book for Jay and I do listen to during a road trip but we ended up choosing a different book and I ended up listening to it. Basically it is the story of a detective who goes back and investigates the death of his twin brother. The end of this one had me shocked in a good way.
Behind Closed Doors- B.A. Paris *Not going to lie this book gave me anxiety but nonetheless a really good page turner about a husband and a wife.
The Disappeared- C.J. Box * Jay and I just finished this one as an audiobook while driving on a vacation recently. It was slow to start but ended up getting going and being a great little mystery book.
The Husband's Secret- Liane Moriarty * The story of 3 women connected by one devastating secret. So good!
Sad Book Alert-
Before We Were Yours- Lisa Wingate * This book is really good, but also really depressing at times. I talks about a family who are forced into a awful orphanage and their lives moving forward. It has some happy parts in it but is a bit sad to read. It is a great book though.
Classic-
The Great Gatsby- This is my favorite book of all time and every few years I read it again and fall in love with it all over again.
