Tis the season to think of others and give to the less fortunate. There are many ways to do this and I hope you all find a away to incorporate helping others in to your holiday traditions.
I was out with my nephew doing some Christmas shopping when we saw a man on the side of the road with a card board sign asking for help. I always try to do something for people who are struggling, but sometimes I worry about just handing out cash. This inspired me to start a little tradition with just my nephew and I. I have been meaning to put together ‘Care Kits’ to keep in my car to hand out to the needy. I thought I would put together some shampoo, soap, toothbrush and other basic necessities that I have collected from hotel stays. But since it is the holiday season I decided to put together a special winter care kit with lots of extras.

My nephew and I hit up Walmart’s mini travel aisle and went a little crazy. We then decided that we need to include some things to keep warm with, so we found some inexpensive socks, hats and gloves to include. We finished off with some travel size snacks. We went a little extreme but like I mentioned earlier, just putting together some freebies you picked up at your last hotel stay is an extremely cheap way to help someone out. Note to the animal lovers, I find a lot of homeless people have a dog so I also included a little bag of dog food for our four legged friends.
We then just put everything together in a zip lock bag to keep in the car for the next time we see someone on the streets in need. It was super easy and fun, I am looking forward to doing this again next winter with my nephew.
Jess and I will be enjoying the rest of the week with our families, we will be back after the holidays.
Merry Christmas,
