Because all the stores seems to have skipped over Thanksgiving I decided to too. I love Thanksgiving it is actually my favorite holiday, but there is only so much turkey decorations one can have. I was shocked to see in Hobby Lobby had their Christmas stuff was already 50% off. So because Christmas decorating has begun (for some) I decided to do a quick little Christmas decor post. I have been a little MIA on the blog. So this is a good post to get me in the Christmas and blogging mood. I am posting today about my Mom's dining room Christmas decor that I am in love with!
I love all the different heights my Mom did. She did a great job pairing trees, deers, and other items to keep your eyes moving. I also love all the different types of trees. I saw this week that Hobby Lobby has some amazing selection of little trees for displays. I also recommend if you live locally (Tri-CIties) to go look at Lemon Grass gifts, All In The Details, and Real Deals Kennewick. I went into Real Deals last week to get some discounted fall decor and I also picked up 2 sparkly white trees! Also great places to look for decor is Hobby Lobby, Pier 1, Home Goods, Michaels, Target, and Walmart. Don't forget to also check out Home Depot and Lowes. People underestimate those places and I've had great luck there.
But for now here is some Christmas decorations inspiration. I am having a hard time trying to find decor for our fireplace. We have 20 foot ceilings in our living room so anything on the fireplace looks small. Since I had been searching the internet and thought I'd share with you some of my favorite homes I've found.

As you can see the garlands are VERY popular. Last year I was able to get some great garland at Home Depot. It is a great place to start and also they last a very long time.
For you farm house lovers.... the top two are great decor ideas. Adding in the graphic picture above the fireplace is a perfect and simple way to keep these festive without being overwhelming.
Ok so this garland is OVER THE TOP but I am in love with it. I definitely belongs in a more formal home. I love how it cascading down the sides of the fireplace, it makes such a grand statement.
We don't have our tv over our fireplace but for those who do you can keep it simple with a garland and some stockings. Another helpful tip when picking your stocking is pick a theme and order them all. We got ours from pottery barn last year (we got THESE) my girlfriend gave me good advice and told me to buy all of our stockings for our eventual family. I ended up ordering 5, one for Jay, myself, Leo, and EVENTUALLY another baby, then one for our dog (or if we end up having a 3rd kid) so now we have plenty. I got all of ours embroidered then ordered 2 that are just plain, I can add the embroidery to the others in the future. You never know when a company will quit selling a certain stocking so it is best to get them all now so they match!
I am obsessing over these trees in the corner of a room. We have a big empty corner in our eat in kitchen area and I am hoping eventually to do something like this. I saw online that Walmart has these online! Check them out HERE!
I love shopping for Christmas decor so I just try and buy a few new things every year. Tackle one new spaces each year that you can update or get new decor for. This year I don't know I am going to get anything for our dining room table. I'm hoping to use some hand me downs from my Mom. I am more focused on getting new stuff for our fireplace mantel and a big garland for our stairs. (And I'm really thinking about ordering the potted Christmas Trees from Walmart!
Happy Wednesday and Happy Christmas decorating!
