It is amazing the transformation that comes to your living room when you spend a little time decorating your coffee table. We have a large fabric one so I only have to really decorate the decorative tray that sits in the center. But I am going to show you how I decorated my coffee table and also additional trays in the house and give you some ideas to freshen yours up. The best part about this post is that I didn't buy a single new item. I simply went around the house and gathered up things to create a more polished look.

I notice a big difference between picture 1 and 2. I see picture one as early 20s want to add some decor but don't really know what your doing. Picture 2, I see decorating with intent. I think when you spent some time swapping things in and out looking online for inspiration it really makes a big difference. So lets talk about coffee table styling.
1. Add a stack of books to create height and start a conversation. I picked a book about Sun Valley a place I lived after college and love dearly and two books about art. I was an art history major in college and am a museum junky so these are two areas that are interesting to me. For our wedding guest book we had people sign coffee table books so I also plan on swapping out those books to keep a variety.
2. Add some life. I did this using a orchid. I sat it upon a pedestal to create even more height as our living room has large ceilings and things look small in this room.
3. Add something with personality or unique. I added these little horns and also a rock that I have literally had since I was 7 years old. Thank you mom for holding on to them.
4. Group items together using the rule of 3. I did this for the glassy baby I added three of them together. You can only see 2 in the picture but trust me there are 3 there!
5. Play with different heights. It is all about heights and giving your eye something to look at so I have all different heights going on here and nothing lines up on the same visual plane.

I also changed up some other little trays in my house. It is amazing the difference you can make but adding in some elements like the greenery, quartz rock (thanks to my elementary school rock collection), and difference sizes of frames.

So take a few minutes this week and do a little redesign of your coffee table. It will help your room look more polished. I have the busiest week and weekend ahead of me and poor little Leo had a fever all day Sunday. So I'm hoping he bounces back quickly and mostly that Jay and I don't go down with whatever he is fighting. Although I won't complain about the 3.5 hour nap he took yesterday so I was able to do this blog post!
Cheers,
Jess
