This pregnancy I've loved taking the down time and reading magazine and books. I have read health books, self help books, baby books, nutrition book, and a billion magazines. Every morning I sit with a cup of decaf coffee and enjoy an hour to 30 minutes of quiet reading time. I have learned so many tips and tricks over the past few months that I thought I'd share with you. Over the next month I'll be sharing some of my favorite healthy life tips that I've put into place in my life. They are super easy and most of them are just a great reminder on how to live your life in a more healthy way. Hope you guys enjoy as much as I have and are able to implement some of them into your life.
1. Predictablity
Your body loves it! Try to wake up at the same time, eat at the same time, work out at the same time. My husband works in the ER so his life doesn't off this luxury and regular schedule. It has been hard for me to get a regular schedule as my schedule some time mimics his. But I've been trying my hardest lately to be on a more regular schedule. Especially with a baby coming along. Being in a balanced state is the best way to reduce stress on your body, keep your weight down, and keep your sleep in check.

2. Eat REAL Food.
What is real food you ask.... Anything that doesn't come with a label or nutrition facts. Think fruits, veggies, meats, and all the things that can be found at the permitter of your grocery store. I am not perfect with this, apple juice has been my major pregnancy craving. But it's no secret that an apple is better for you than a glass of apple juice. Try to eat food in it's original state. Also try and buy seasonal produce, this gets hard in the winter. This is where the freezer aisle comes in handy. Look for "FRESH FLASH FROZEN" fruits and vegetables. These foods are picked at their ripest when the food is packed full of the most nutrients and flash frozen, this is sometimes a better option than eating something that has been grown across the world and flown to our grocery stores.
3. Maintain a diet that works for YOU!!
Are you raw vegan, gluten free, low carb? It doesn't matter as long as you like what you eat and you feel good. There are so many healthy eating tips out there, the main point is eat real food, moderate your portions, make good dietary choices, and COOK at home. It's pretty simple when it all boils down to it. When you cook at home you know what goes into your food!

4. Have a glass of wine and relax.
We all know the benefits of having a glass of red wine, the trick is having just ONE. Having more than one for us ladies increases our risk for break cancer and heart disease. Put your feet up, grab a book, and enjoy that glass of wine. I personally can't wait to start this one up again in a few months!

5. Have good hygiene.
Good health and good hygiene go hand in hand. Wash your hands more often. Wash your sheets ONCE A WEEK in hot water maybe more if your animals sleep in bed with you! Wipe down your cell phones and remotes to keep them germ free, especially in the winter. Ladies.... do you know all the terrible things that are on your handbag. I make a point to wipe my handbag down at least once a week and I am careful not to set it on the countertops at home. Good hygiene is one of the major keys to healthy living!
See it is as simple as that! These are 5 easy tips that you can start adding into your life TODAY! I'll be back next week with 5 more.... now off to wash those sheets of mine!
Cheers,
Jess
