As you can see the house in very traditional and classic.
As you can see they decorated the dining room in a very classic way....And I wasn't a FAN AT ALL of the carpet in the dining room..... no no no!

Ok first remodel post for the blog!! I'm so excited to start sharing with you our remodel, but we haven't finished every room so I'll be slowly sharing each room once I feel like it's finished. I'm dying to show you our new "wine room" next but I'm waiting to get some art for it so I think I'll have to wait a little longer. I'll give you a little backstory on the house then start with the official remodel run down. My husband and I had always planned on building when we moved back to the Tri-Cities. We had even purchased a lot and I had a million pictures saved on Houzz. In the mean time we were living in the house I bought when I was 24 a mile down the road from my parents. What I realized is how nice it was being so close to family. I had noticed that the house across from my parents had been for sale for almost a year. My Mom encouraged me to go look at it a few times but I wasn't interested. Finally I caved and went and saw the house. It was definitely a beautiful house but NOT my style. We had always planned on building a modern house. But the more I walked about the house I fell in love with the layout and the 1.2 acre mature landscaped property. And the fact that we are so close to both my parents and Jays. We bought the home in October and the remodel began. We didn't move in till the middle of March so it was quite the overhaul of the entire house. As you can see the house in very traditional and classic. BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURE As you can see they decorated the dining room in a very classic way....And I wasn't a FAN AT ALL of the carpet in the dining room..... no no no! As you can see there are some big changes which I will address as we go on. The first being the removal of the carpet and the faux wood tile floors. I got my floors at Standard Paint and Flooring in Kennewick, I really wanted the look of wood but with a small child I didn't want actual wood. I'm beyond happy with these floors! Plus with the tile I was able to get more of a grey color. The Black Wall I really wanted a accent wall in our dining room. After spending lots of time on Houzz I decided upon a black wainscot wall. I had originally wanted 3 sets of squares but we soon realized that it wouldn't work. Thank goodness for Stephanie Monson from Valiant Design for coming to our rescue on how to make my vision work on this odd shaped wall with off centered light fixtures. If you guys are looking for a black color to paint your house this one is from Benjamin Moore and the color is Black Beauty. The Table I wanted a more modern looking table since this was our only "semi" modern room. I searched and searched and found this Berlin Pine and Lucite table at Coleman Furniture. I loved that it was a non traditional looking table and I especially fell in love with the color of the tabletop. Not to mention the clear legs. The Chairs Now I needed a little color and pattern in this room. I actually saw these chairs earlier this year at Pier 1 Imports and I kept going back to them. I thought the blue would be a nice contrast to all the grey we had going on in the house and also the pattern against the black wall would make the pattern really pop. The Art Next was finding some table decor. I decided to go with a sculpture on the table and went with something that was more cream/white. I thought the contrast of the white sculpture against the black wall would look really nice. Dining Room Details: Table- Coleman Furniture // Chairs- Pier 1 Imports // Art- Z Gallerie // Flooring- Standard Paint and Flooring // Paint Color- Black Beauty (Benjamin Moore) // Lighting- KIE Supply (Kennewick WA) // Hope you enjoyed this dining room makeover. Sorry it got a little wordy but I just was so excited to share. For those of you who are scared about painting a room black, I'm here to show you how cool it can look.
Cheers, Jess
