I am a big fan of a body scrub. I have been using the 100% pure body scrub for probably 5 years. I love it, but it is $30 a jar. Although it lasts long, but it hasn't lasted very long lately due to the fact that my husband has been using it. Ok your probably thinking why in the would would your husband be using a body scrub, well he normally would never use it, BUT.......
Ok so before I throw my husband under the bus I need to give you the story. My husband for some reason thinks he doesn't need to use sunscreen. As much as I try and tell him he never "remembers" to put it on. So this summer we have already dealt with two sunburns. As we all know sunburns are so bad, and each sunburn increases your chance of skin cancer. I don't know why I have to continue to preach this to him, he's a freaking doctor he should be the one teaching me. Ladies, guys aren't as vigilant about sunscreen so help a dude out and remind him to use sunscreen daily and to reapply it when you are out doing activities.
Anyways, back the point of this blog post. He started peeling so badly after his sunburn. All over his legs, arms, chest, and back. And peeling skin just grosses me out. So I told him he could use my body scrub next time he showered to try and get all of that peeling skin off. And it worked like a miracle and needless to say he continued to use for the next few days. The downside was my $30 sugar scrub was GONE!
I decided it can't be that hard to make a sugar scrub myself. So I searched around and found some recipes. I had recently got some lavender, I thought this would be the perfect use for it. And everyone loves a good lavender scent. This is easy to make and so cheap. I already had all these items in the house. It literally took me about 3 minutes to make. I can't wait to start playing around and making more scents.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups of white sugar
- 1/3 cup of baby oil or coconut oil
- 1/4 cup lavender
- a food processor or blender
- a jar or tupperware
The best part about this is you can try all different scents, rose petals, lemons, oh and all my essential oils friends I'm sure you could really spice this up with all your oil combos!
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July I know we sure did!
Cheers,
Jess
