Today I am sharing my educational gift guide for kids. I have items from your tiny builder to your science kid. Mind you these are toys I have had for Leo but I think that some of these toys would be enjoyed up to 9 years old. Especially things like the ant farm or the venus fly trap. Also another educational item WE LOVE the Ranger Rick magazines. My kids look forward to getting theirs every month. So check out my educational picks and also I shared what they both asked for from Santa!
The Science Lovers
Science Activities- We have had ALL of these activities so I share these from personal use. So far the venus fly trap and ant farm have been our favorites. I also love the sea creatures you can paint. After your done simply wash them with soap and water and use them again.
The Learners
For Your Learners- For Leo I have had great success packaging a book and an activity together. Earlier this years he got the first book of planets and his own planets to make a solar system. He spent a week playing with them. This year he is getting this bugopedia and bugs in resin to study. My suggestion is to think of a theme, get an educational book and a toy to have them interact further.
The Builders
For Your Builders- This category is for pretty much all kids. One thing I have learned is get them anything they can build or rearrange they will LOVE it. I am sharing all my favorite building items. Our current favorite is the magnetic stick with the magnetic balls, making 3D shapes. While this is one we have to closely supervise with Monroe around (don't want her eating one of the balls) it has quickly become one of Leo's favorite activities.
Pretend Play
The "FUN" Toys- Here is what my kids asked for this year. They are both big into pretend play, setting up elaborate stories. I can't wait to see the battles that'll go on this year between the Avengers and the dinosaurs or Batman VS Monster trucks. While I don't mind buying what is popular I take time to sit with my kids after getting the toy and "TEACH THEM" how to play. I think that is one things parents might overlook. They learn how to play from you. So this Christmas sit down and play barbies or avengers, create a story act it out. You will be surprised the next day the kids will be replaying those same situations by themselves.
Monroe-
Disney Elsa Castle, Singing Elsa Doll, and all things FROZEN! She also asked for the Cave Club barbie since she is into lions and other cats. I also got her a few Calico critter items. She is really into calico critters as well.
Leo-
Leo asked for all things super heroes this year, the Batman house, Avenger toys and then legos. For his big gift we are getting his a Lego table for his room so he can do his legos in his room without his sister ruining them.

I hope there are a few items for the kids in here. I am not saying everything should be bought on amazon the links are just here. Remember to try to support local as much as you can. We have gotten quite a few things locally this year. While it is hard to go 100% local I encourage you to keep trying.
Cheers,
Jess
