So this is still a "work in progress" but it is closer to done and I was dying to share this room with you from our remodel. Jay and I are fairly big wine drinkers, when we bought our house we were stumped on where to put our wine cellar. After ALOT of searching of HOUZZ I came up with an idea and showed it to our contractors. To my SURPRISE they went above and beyond creating my vision. This is how we turned our "formal living room" into the coolest room in our house.
The Before
There was nothing wrong with this room. It was a beautiful formal living room. But Jay and I didn't see a need for a formal living room, so we decided to turn it into a wine sitting room.
Can you believe the walls are covered with laminate, no one believes us when we tell them this. They did such a great job with it. Each rack holds 3 bottles so I think in the end it will hold over 460+ bottles of wine. This room is opposite of the black dining room so I continued with the dark color on the wall. I offset the dark wall with a cream laminate on the back of the wine cooler and a cream stone fireplace. There is a whole complex cooling system they created for this wine cellar, but that is beyond me I'm just here to talk about all the interior aspects of it.
Ok now to the fun stuff
The decor was my favorite part of this room!! I knew I wanted to add some color so I found these amazing blue velvet chairs. We didn't buy hardly any new furniture for the house. We figured while kids are little we would just work with the furniture we had. But for this room I got to buy ALL NEW! It was so much fun being able to start with an idea and run with it. The chairs were first and then the black wood coffee table. The last piece in the room (but the most important) was the artwork. I had been looking for artwork but couldn't find anything I loved. So I turned to a local artist, Kate Woodford, to create my vision. I LOVE working with her and I LOVE how the piece turned out. It is truly perfect for the room!
This is clearly not a "fashion friday" post but it is a post so I call that a win. It has been a crazy week here at my house and most things I've wanted to get done haven't. We literally have a blow up swimming pool/playtoy in our living room. My poor child has been Mr. Needy since his shots this week and I am thankful I was even able to cook dinner all this week. So blog photos got put on the back burner and baby snuggles and play time dominated our week. I am NOT going to complain though, I am beyond grateful that this is what my week looks like. I am reminded after being away from my family for a few days how lucky I am to be able to stay home with my son. So this week I feel like I need a much needed glass of wine in my wine room because being a stay at home mom sometimes is really hard, but OH SO WORTH IT!
Cheers,
Jess
