So my kitchen needed a little refresh. I hate how messy things get around the kitchen sink. We have dawn soap sitting out, sponges and cleaners sitting in the sink, it just was looking yucky. I wanted to tidy this area up a little so I decided to do a little post on how to make your sink area look better. Plus I'm sharing with you a few little kitchen cleaning tips!
The first step to my kitchen "refresh" was changing out the bottle of dish soap and putting it into an olive oil bottle. It looks SOOO much better than a old bottle of dish soap. The best part is the bottle was on sale a Fred Meyer for $2! I love cute hand soaps, I picked this one up at Lemon Grass Gifts it has a cute little radish on it. How perfect is it for the kitchen!
Secondly, I got a dish to hold my sponge and scrubber in. I ended up getting a plastic stainer type bowl, I was looking for a steel mesh one but I wasn't able to find one. What I like about this is that I can throw it in the dishwasher and make sure it stays clean.!
One tip about sponges, I am not a sponge person but husband likes have them. So as a compromise I replace them OFTEN like once a week and every day I throw my sponge in the microwave for 2 minutes to sanitize it. I also throw my dish scrubber in the dishwasher to keep it clean.
I have a black e-granite sink and it is so hard to keep clean and polished. After asking around I found out that the best thing to polish these type of sinks is using mineral oil. So what I do is clean the sink with soap and water then once it dries I use the mineral oil to polish it.
Microwave Cleaning
I wanted to share quickly how I clean my microwave. I love using lemons to clean and this is another way I use them. What I do is put a little bit of distilled vinegar and water in a dish then add in lemons. Then I put the dish in the microwave and turn it on for 5 minutes. I let it steam up the microwave for a few minutes, then I simply wipe down the microwave. It's an easy and chemical free way to clean your microwave!
