We celebrated Monroe's first birthday a few weeks early. I went way overboard with all the pink. I think 3 years of boy parties got the best of me and I went all out with the girlie stuff. With my blogging I use it a lot as almost a "journal" so don't mind all the photos I did my best to keep this party "small". Which I think we actually accomplished compared to Leo's first birthday party which we had like 50-60 people. We had the most fun celebrating this little (ahem big) girl and I am so happy with how the decor and everything turned out. Only the best for my baby girl!
As you can see the theme was "Flamingo"! And Posh Party Bebes crushed it on the balloons!!!
The Dessert Table- was the star of the show. We had 2 cakes, Jay's favorite mexican bakery heart cookies, flamingo suckers and a cute floral arrangement made by my Mom.
Jay loves these Mexican heart shaped sugar cookies. Jay's grandparents owned and ran a mexican bakery growing up and Jay always had these cookies. I thought this would be a really fun way to incorporate a bit of her heritage.
We had 2 cakes the first cake was made by a bakery in town called Frost Me Sweet and I picked up her cake topper on etsy.
For Monroe's smash cake I got a little crafty and decided to make it on my own. More on that in another blog post. The cake topper came with the package we got from Posh Party Bebes first birthday package which was awesome for the smash cake. Ok now for the fun event. I feel like first birthday parties are so fun because of the smash cake. Leo went to town on his, Monroe was much more lady like but still really loved it especially the frosting!
A look at some other decor....
For the kids instead of gift bags I did different flamingo books and then activity books for the older kids. I usually always get kids books for birthday as one of their gifts so it only seemed fitting that I did books as favors for the kids. I think this might be my new thing for all of our parties.
Well if you have made it this far thanks!! Here are a few more photos for you!

Now your eyes might need some rest from all the pink! I'm will be sharing the cupcake smash cake that I made and how I made it. I got quite a few DMs and messages about how I did it. So as soon as I get some time I will write that. In other news Leo starts pre school TODAY! I am so excited for him but kind of sad that we have reached this milestone of school. Thankfully it is only 3 days a week. It is going to be so weird to have him gone, but he's only gone 2.5 hours at a time so I know I will survive! Can't wait to report back on how his first week went.
Cheers,
Jess
