I was at a cute little gift store in Portland and came across a little pinecone christmas tree. I wanted something large for my table and I had finally found it, but was shocked at the sticker price of $115. I decided I could create this on my own, so I headed to Michael’s with an idea in mind. I wandered into the 99 cent aisle and found so many great items including all the glitter flowers, toppers, and ribbon. The cones were the priciest item, but all in all I created these three tress for under $50.
Supplies:
Directions:
1. Spray paint the pinecones. I did about 2 coats of the gold spray then waited 30 minutes and added a coat of glitter.
- 3 Styrofoam Cones (I did 3 different sizes)
- 2 Spools of Ribbon (wire edged)
- 4 Bags of Pinecones, or make it an adventure and go pinecone hunting
- Gold Spray Paint
- Gold Glitter Spray
- Glue Gun
- 3 Tree Toppers- Wander the aisles of the craft store and find your favorite topper.

3. Let dry for an hour.
4. Lay down your large cone and start hot gluing your pinecones on. I also added some glitter flowers to my cones, I found these in the 99 cent aisle. That is the joy in crafting and the wonders of places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby!

5. Once complete I added the topper for the tree. And started on the ribbon trees.
6. For ribbon trees, hot glue the ribbon to the cone at the top of the cone. Then slowly wrap the ribbon around the cone.

7. Keep wrapping until you get to the bottom then hot glue the ribbon to the bottom of the cone. Make sure you are using the wire edged ribbon this keeps it in place.
8. Add the cone topper. Put pinecone and ribbon cones together to create your own Christmas Tree Trio!
Rarely do I craft, but this was a fun and easy little Christmas craft. I love the height it brings to the table and I am so glad I went with three different sizes of cones. Enjoy your craft time. I’m headed to LA for the week so Ang will be doing the blogging for the next few days. She has some great stuff in store, per usual!
Cheers,
