When the weather gets warm all I want is a margarita. It is my favorite summer drink. This week I was dying for a margarita and wanted something a little different. I have rosemary in my garden and I was wondering if I could do something with that. I viewed some rosemary margaritas recipes on pinterest but they all had grapefruit and I didn't have any at home. My eyes stumbled upon the watermelon I had just bought sitting on my kitchen counter and the idea came together. More about this little cocktail creation and what I'll be wearing for Memorial Day weekend!
This cocktail took longer than making a normal margarita. I'm not much of a speciality cocktail kind of girl, but after making this one I might just have to become one. I love using ingredients from our garden so I didn't mind taking a little extra time to make a rosemary simple syrup. It was an extra 5 minute process but OH SO WORTH IT! Plus it is something you can make ahead of time and keep on hand all weekend long.
Rosemary + Watermelon Margaritas
Ingredients
1 small bunch fresh rosemary (leave woody stems)
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups water
2 1/2 cups fresh watermelon cubes
1 1/4 cups white tequila
1/3 cup fresh lime juice or 3/4 cup margarita mix
Ice
For Garnish-
Additional fresh rosemary sprigs and diced watermelon cubes
Directions
Combine rosemary, sugar, and water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer until the water reduces by a third and becomes slightly syrupy. Pour through strainer into a cup and let syrup cool.
Place the watermelon cubes in a blender and puree until smooth.
Combine the watermelon, tequila, fresh lime juice (or margarita mix), 1/3 cup of the rosemary syrup and ice. Blend together. Depending on your tastes, you may want more syrup—adjust accordingly!)
Serve immediately garnished with lime, watermelon cubes, and fresh rosemary.

I usually NEVER depart from a FASHION FRIDAY post so this week I'm throwing in a little for you. This is a great outfit for all those Memorial Day BBQ you will be attending. Even though I have a small child I'm still brave enough to wear white jeans all summer long. I attached some of my favorite brands of white jeans. I also paired it with a denim button up top. I love the classic look of the chambray against the white. I also caved in this year and got some Birkenstocks. They aren't the cutest things but boy are the comfortable. I prefer to wear them with shorts vs white jeans but I wanted to show them to you anyways!
