I have heard about the magic of a satin (or silk) pillow case.... I was eager to try it. After a month of use I have decided it was time to share with you my results and love for the satin pillowcase.
My Mom has always had a satin pillow case on her bed, I was so confused why she had this slippery pillowcase so I finally asked her. She then proceeded to send me a million articles and convinced me to buy one for myself and test it out.
The main thing they say is that sleeping on a satin pillowcase is good for your hair and face. No more waking up with pillow lines and the smoother surface it is ultimately better for your skin as it helps against the formation of wrinkles.
As for hair, they say it is better for breakage, due to the lack of static and friction. It also is known to make your hairdo last longer. This I knew would be the biggest test, I am a crazy person when I sleep. I'll toss and turn and when I wake up my hair looks like wild woman hair. But, after using the pillow I woke up thinking my hair looked as good as Gigi Hadid's hair..... yes I just pulled out a Gigi Hadid reference. She's my favorite supermodel and I am seriously obsessed with her and her hair. Ok it doesn't look that good, but it looks significantly different. That alone is worth sleeping on the pillowcase.
There are two different types of pillowcases you can get.... there is silk and satin. Let me quickly explain silk is a fabric produced by the silk worm and satin is basically a synthetic version of silk. Therefore it will be a polyester blend. Polyester satin will be a bit more slippery. Natural silk in contrast is softer in feel and less slippery. I researched a lot about both and neither is "better" than the other. It is a personal preference. I personally went for the silk because I had read that it stays cooler.
I have included both a silk and a satin pillowcase below. 100% silk pillowcases tend to be a bit more expensive, but not by a lot. Hopefully you'll see results if you decide to make the switch!
