I wish I was writing this blog saying this was my kimono, but I stole it from my mom's closet. I helped her pick out this beautiful kimono this winter and I've been dying to wear it for a "Fashion Friday". When I was home the last time my mom finally agreed to let me wear it for some photos. I'm hoping next time she won't notice and I can "borrow" it for longer than just an hour.
I was getting a little fancy with my posing since I was trying to move around to show off all the fun the movement of the kimono. But this resulted in some funny poses or poses of me trying to look like a ballerina. Also don't mind my inconsistent editing, I've been playing more in photoshop trying to work on color etc and holy smokes what I realized is that I am bad at it! I definitely need more work and practice.
Here is a close up detail of the fabric, I love all the colors and the floral pattern. Since there were so many details in the kimono I was very basic on what I wore with it; a black tank, black leggings, black shoes and black earrings. I also thought since the kimono has such a delicate pattern and all the fringe it would look best to wear my hair up.
I loved all the shots we took in the orchard. I usually run behind my parents house and the landscape is pretty bare. So it was fun to take some photos with all the green behind me. It really showed off the colors in the kimono. What I like best about this color scheme is unlike other floral kimonos this one is has a variety of colors with a black base of it isn't so "hawaii summertime" that you can wear it all year long. I also think the velvet floral design makes it transition from season to season.
So this kimono is a bit spendy..... BUT the good news is that it is on sale! The brand is called "Show Me Your Mumu" and on their site this week they are having a sale! I love this brand and basically everything they make. Every summer I am tempted by all their stuff. It is so beautiful and the quality is worth every penny. If you don't want to spend $150 on this kimono, I've include a few links on the bottom of other kimonos for a cheaper price.
