Activities activities activities...... this is my last summer alone with just Leo . So I am trying to make it the best summer ever. I have a big list of activities that we can do and everyday we try and do something new. From scavenger hunts to shaving cream painting I have 5 fun summer activities for your kiddos. None of these activities really cost more than a few dollars. Most of the stuff I actually had a home so check out the fun we have had going on at our house.
Shaving Cream Painting
This is probably our favorite activity. We have done this quite a few times and it has been my go to when I'm cooking dinner. Like I have said we potty trained this past week and so I have had to keep an eye on him. Dinner prep is the hardest for me to watch him so having him in the kitchen is easiest. So having a fun little activity like shaving cream painting aka Leo playing with his cars in it will entertain him for a good 45 minutes. All you need is shaving. cream and a little paint but you don't even have to use the paint. I put the shaving cream on a tupperware lid to contain the mess. After we get all his cars and paint brushes dirty we move to the sink where he gets to wash everything which entertains him another 10-15 minutes. Best little activity ever!
Supplies:
Supplies:
- 1 can of shaving cream
- old Tupperware lid
- paint brushes, cars, figurines whatever they like to play with
GOlf Tees Hammer
Grab an old box and some golf tees and let them go to town. I just threw this away today it had been out for 4 days and we definitely got our maximum use from it. I will grab a new box in a few weeks and we will do it again. Leo had a blast hammering in the golf tees as well as using them to puncture new holes. I even set the tees up like a race coarse for his little cars and he had a blast racing his cars all around..... OMG I am such a boy mom. How am I going to ever entertain a little girl
Supplies:
Supplies:
- Husband's old golf tees
- Old box
ICe Hammering
This has also been a hit in our house. Who would of thought a frozen dinosaur or ball would be so much fun. At first I thought he would use the hammer a little more but he was more interested in getting them to melt. We have since made more and taken them into the bath tub with us as well as the water table. I didn't buy anything new for this I just went into his toy box and grabbed a bunch of stuff that was small enough to freeze in our ice cube tray.

Supplies:
- Ice cube tray
- Items to freeze
Car Painting and Car Wash
*you guys see the little potty next to Leo. He insists we bring it outside.
Another easy activity. I grabbed a box, some cars and paint and outside we went. Leo loves painting with the cars but more than anything he loved taking them to the "truck wash" aka using his water table (you could also use a tupperware if you don't have a water table). I put in some dawn soap and grab some brushes and we start cleaning. The more bubbles the better.
Supplies:
Supplies:
- Paint
- Soap
- Trucks
- Brushes
Color Scavenger Hunt
So this might of been my favorite activity. This one took a little more concentration from Leo. We had to give him a little break then he came back to it. We decided to focus our scavenger hunt to the garden and explore all the food we having growing. I would show Leo the color he was looking for and off he would run to find the color. You can also do this inside with different objects. It is such a great learning activity.

As you can see you don't need to break the bank this summer trying to find summer activities for your kids. It is amazing the fun things you can do with things you have around the house. Find different things to freeze, take your scavenger hunt to a different location in the house, add some color into some shaving cream..... basically just be creative with what you have and have fun. We also have a blast with chalk. Today I drew a road with a bunch of different buildings like a fire house, police station, Leo's house, and a lake. I brought a bunch of cars outside but didn't tell him where things went. I loved watching his little brain work, he even went and grabbed Arson's shark dog toy and put it in the "lake". Watching them learn and explore is so much fun and these activities will surely get their creativity going and also keep them entertained all summer long.
Cheers,
Jess
