We just got home from a week long vacation. Let's just say it wasn't easy with a baby. Monroe developed a diaper rash that turned into basically bed sores. We were an hour away from a grocery so I made due with the little stuff I brought and we amazon primed some items to the resort. It was quite challenging keep her dry on a lake/beach vacation. But the worst part was her crying all hours of the night. I think Jay and I contemplated driving home about 40 times, but we knew how much fun Leo was having so we felt bad. I was reminded that traveling with babies isn't ideal. They just do better in their environment at home. We survived and we have tried to catch up on sleep a little since we have been home. But I'm highlighting some of my go to travel items as well as my little travel boxes I made that quite a few of you messaged me about.
Baby Gear
High Chair- I've talked about this before but this high chair is the bomb! From outside dining at home or for vacation it really is a must have.
(you can see all the items in this photo)
Beach Mat- We got this last year and it was great again for the sand. IT is nice to have this as a place to sit Monroe so she wasn't in the sand. Also it was perfect for snack or lunch time.
Regalo Playpen- So this ended up being a LIFE SAVER! Since Monroe had awful diaper rash and she couldn't actually be in the sand. So this way she was able to be outside under the shade tent and she was actually totally content in it. We all took turns sitting in it with her and at one point I think there was 4 other little kids in there sitting and playing with her.
Shade Tent- Same thing we had last year but it is a must have for the kiddos on the beach.
Rechargeable Fan- There is no AC in the little cabin we stay in. So we have this little fan to use at the beach or on the boat for Monroe but we ended up hooking it onto her pack and play and using it as her personal fan at night. I was shocked this stayed charged all night and kept her cool.
Long Range Baby Monitor- So the last few years we have just took an audio monitor since our monitors at home use wi-fi. So this year I made an impulse buy at Target for this baby monitor. This thing has 1000 ft range. So we were able to put both kids to bed and then go down to the campfire. Mind you from the cabin to the campfire was less than 100 yards away and we always had eyes on the cabin but it was extra peace of mind being able to see both kids. We had tried other monitors up there but lost signal through all the walls etc so this one was the best!
Black King Size Sheets- So we were staying in a new cabin this year and didn't know the living situation so I ordered 2 sets of black king size flat sheets. Leo slept on the air mattress in the living room so we drapped the black sheet over the window to create a more black off curtain effect. Monroe was in our room in the pack and play we used the sheet to create a little room for her. We knew if she saw us in the morning she would be awake so we put her pack and play in the corner and then used push pins on the ceiling to make an L with sheet. So she basically was totally enclosed (2 sides wall, 2 sides black sheet) as if it was her own little room. Highly recommend doing this if you have to share a bedroom with a baby and know they will wake up if they see you.

Toys-
I tried not to bring too many toys so I got a small tupperware box and I told Leo Leo he would pick his own toys. He had quite a fun time picking out toys to bring. Monroe also got a small tupperware as well but I picked out her toys. He also got a special surprise once we got to the lake. He got these new sharks since he has been into sharks lately. I also put these sharks away once we got home so I can pull them out next year and he will think they are brand new. I got them off of amazon HERE!
Travel Boxes
I also made Leo 2 little travel boxes. We eat a fair amount of meals out so these were for dinners and eating out only so they maintained their specialness. I went to Michaels and got a few items but for the most part I found all the items at home.
Dino Box
-Dinosaurs
-PlayDoh
-Dino PlayDoh Toys
-Turkey (meat for carnivore) and Corn (for the herbivore)
-Magnetic letters that spell Dino

I think he loved the cowboy box the best because of the battery powered candle. He thought it was the coolest thing ever. When I got home all put all these items away as well so I can bring them out again in a few weeks and he will think they are brand new. I can't wait to keep creating these fun little boxes for him.

Jess
