This year instead of New Years resolutions I made monthly goals. Check out the full list here! (it is never too late to start) April's goal was catching up on all my photos and baby books. I love taking pictures but my laptop has 25,000 photos, desktop has 30,000 photos, and my phone has 10,000 photos and videos. Needless to say this comes at a great time to get motivation to clear out some digital photos. I'll take you through my process and some apps and photobooks that help me keep things in order.
Step 1 - Clearing out my digital files. There is no reason between my 3 devices I have 65,000 photos. There is a 100% chance that most of my photos are saved on both computers. So my first step is backing up all my photos on Amazon photo. If you have a prime account you get free photo storage . I just have the app on my phone and all the photos get uploaded through there.
For my phone I also use the app called gemini, seen below. It helps you delete similar pictures etc. If you have kids and have to snap 500 to get one good one then you probably need to download this app. As you can see I need to do some deleting....

Step 2- Each year I make an photo album. I think I've been making albums for at least 10 years maybe more. So this is where I start doing some deleting. On my laptop I create a folder that says 2019 photos I pull out photo that I want in my book then I delete the ones where eyes are closed or duplicates. I try and do one month at a time. I'll look my October photos on my laptop, desktop, and then on my phone so I can make sure I am not missing any major photos.
After all my photos for the year are uploaded onto Shutterfly then I will start making my album. Honestly the process of looking through an entire years photos on 3 devices, uploading them, then making an album usually takes me a few months. But in the end it is all worth it. I find that I like making 1 big yearly album vs separate albums for trips or big events.

I make large format albums on Shutterfly and they usually are about 70- 100 pages. I know there are other websites but I like the software Shutterfly has it makes it really easy. After I create them I wait till there is a 50% off sale because if you give it a few weeks most likely there will be a sale. So be sure you never buy at full price.
Step 3- Time to update those baby books....
I honestly have been pretty good at updating my kids books. Leo is at the point where it just gets a yearly update and I track his weight and height. Monroe still gets an update written in her book every 3 months and I track her milestones etc. I have love how simple these books are and that I can write in them. I know there are some great digital ones out there but Leo is 4 and I am still writing and updating his. So I don't know how a digital one would work. Needless to say I've been a big fan of the Lucy Darlings Baby's first year books.

I also have a birthday book that I got as a gift for Leo from my sister in laws parents (which was SO nice). I actually love the birthday book. And as they get older each year is a little folder or time capsule that you can put a piece of art work, newpaper article etc. I actually got an newspaper so I could clip an article about the coronavirus for his 4 year old time capsule. It is a really fun way to save a few things that'll just fit into the envelope. It makes me just save the most important pieces (art) and not everything.
So now that is my process that I do every year that takes a million years. I would love to tackle all my physical photo albums etc. I have probably 10,000 printed photos that I could get rid of about 1/2 of. But that isn't for this month.
As for quarantine....we have been doing great. I think because we were in Arizona for the first month of the stay at home order, so being home is still new for us. We spend alot of time outside thank GOODNESS for the nice weather. Here are a few snapshots from the week at home.

Aren't these little masks cute our babysitter Teddie made for them. They see us wearing them and asked to wear them too. So now they have their own. They haven't had to leave the house yet but if something arises it is nice knowing they have a mask they could wear.
Cheers,
