Summer sunburns yikes! With all these hot temperatures it is hard not to end a weekend without one. Especially for all you crazy boat race attendee's who I know will all be covered in a sun burn next Monday. Book mark this post so you can look back on it then! Since I am a crazy sunscreen-er I don't get sunburns anymore, but for those who do there is some relief for you!
Keep in mind there is no immediate sunburn treatment. So once you have a sunburn the damage has been done and it is going to day several days for your skin to begin to heal. But hopefully these will be helpful for those dealing with one.

Oatmeal bath, this might not seem like something you want to do but it'll surely help with some soothing. Try a luke warm oatmeal bath the next day. Aveeno has a great one that I have used for really bad bug bites and it has done the trick. So this one is a win win can use it for bug bites and sunburns!

Keep your skin cool! Cold shower, lukewarm oatmeal bath, cold compresses at night or while laying on the couch. Do it all! It'll help relieve the discomfort while the towels are on your skin.

Moisturize! Aloe Vera is your friend! Apply aloe gel or the plant on your skin. If you don't have that then just keep putting lotion to the affected area. Over and over again. When we were little we had an aloe plant and that thing was our friend for just about everything. Chicken pox, sun burns, bee stings you name it we used that plant. I suggest heading to the store and picking one up. The gel juice of the aloe vera plant will help take the redness and sting out of the sunburn. All you need to do is slice open on the leaves and apply the gel directly to the burn. Easy and simple! you can do it several times a day to continue getting the desired relief.

You can always use this Solarcaine Cool Aloe burn relief formula pain relieving spray with lidocaine. It will offer some temporary relief from pain and itching. And we all know a peeling sunburn can itch.

Drink Water! Simple and easy. Since you fried your skin, you can also assume it and yourself is dehydrated. So replenish all your liquid and drink plenty of water. Being hydrated will help the sunburn heal a lot faster and better.

Take a pain reliever. It can help with the pain and most importantly cut the inflammation of a sunburn.
Be gentle with peeling skin. We all know what happens a few days after a sunburn, your skin starts peeling. Your body is doing it's job by getting rid of the damaged top layer of skin. So while your skin is peeling, be sure to use lots of lotion and moisturzier. You can also use our homemade sugar scrub to help get the excess skin off. .
Lastly the best way is to prevent this and wear sunscreen, stay in the shade, and wear a hat to avoid this all together. I looked up some great sunscreens and found this article one webMD with 14 of the best sunscreens. Check it out here and make sure you are buying one that is on the list! Sunburns are painful and are just plain horrible for your skin. So do yourself a favor and stock up on sunscreen for this boat race weekend.
