Oh man we are in full winter season. I feel like I struggle every winter on how to layer property. My husband gets so mad at me cause I never wear a coat because I can't fit all my heavy sweaters and layers under a coat. Or I do put a sweater on with a coat it is just too darn hot I end up carrying my coat around the entire time. Basically I need a coat check everywhere I go. So mostly I never wear a jacket and instead I just tend to layer a lot in the winter. So here is how I layer in the winter without looking like I weigh 700 lbs.
When I am doing a lot of layers I am all about patterns textures and colors. Although I am one to often wear different shades of black and grey it is fun to add some color into your winter wardrobe. One color that I feel like is lacking in my closet is green. A good shade of green is so pretty and looks good with all hair colors and skin tones. So for this outfit I mixed this green fluffy sweater with a green plaid shirt. When doing a monochromatic look I mixed the plaid pattern with the fluffy textured sweater. You could easily also wear this fluffy sweater with a plain black top. You can also do a light grey or white top with regular denim. When looking for cardigans I like heavier textures that make more of a statement. But as you can see with these big bell sleeves and the weight of this sweater squeezing it under a jacket is no easy tasks. To keep things looking slim try tucking in the bottom layer to show off your waist or go with something a little tighter under the cardigan.
So next items to talk about is these Gap jeans. So I haven't wore Gap jeans in years but during their black friday sale I decided to try a pair. I went with the super high rise jeans and they have fast become my favorite pair in my closet. They are the perfect stretch and I love the wash of them.
Lastly the other new staple of my closet this winter have been these lace up leather uggs. Who knew uggs made so many other cute boots. It seems like the shaft of booties have been getting high and higher and I couldn't be more excited about how these hit on my calf.

Agh.... so first week blogging wasn't so bad! I have some more fun topics. I am hoping to blog about a few more of my new years resolutions. I will say I have been buying the dirty dozen organic the last few weeks and I haven't noticed that big of difference in my grocery bill.
I hope you are getting your lives all back to normal after the holidays. I am happy my house has gotten back to normal and I have been organizing like a crazy women. I spent the last 2 days during Leo's nap organizing his toys and clothes. I can't be stopped!
Cheers,
Jess
