Yes you read that right a bagel salad. So you can act like your eating well with a side of bagel. I have been making homemade croutons for years. I love what they add to homemade soups and salads but I have never thought about using a bagel. GAME CHANGER.
This is a little bit of this and a little bit of that kind of post. A little workout, a little pre-school, a little DIY and a little bit of crazy. Life has been pretty good thus far and the weather is really been working in our favor. I have gotten into a bit of a routine which is nice. It seems like we have to take things in stride as the situation changes day to day. But I wanted to take you through what our life is looking like.... some days it is DIY, 3 homemade meals, exercise, and all the pre-school activities. Then sometimes it looks like the photo above, Halloween costumes, pjs, freshly cut flowers, and some warmed up dino nuggets for dinner. It is all about balance right. Well let's get into it....
This year instead of New Years resolutions I made monthly goals. Check out the full list here! (it is never too late to start) April's goal was catching up on all my photos and baby books. I love taking pictures but my laptop has 25,000 photos, desktop has 30,000 photos, and my phone has 10,000 photos and videos. Needless to say this comes at a great time to get motivation to clear out some digital photos. I'll take you through my process and some apps and photobooks that help me keep things in order.
Covid19, coronavirus, pandemic....whatever you want to call it. Regardless of the name it SUCKS! I have been so humbled my the amount of texts, dms, emails, calls etc asking about Jay and how he is doing and if I am freaking out. I hadn't planned on blogging during this whole thing cause it seems weird to give you a new link to a dress or talk about my “homeschooling" or my "home workouts" when so many people are struggling with their health, finances, anxiety etc. It just doesn't seem right given the climate but what I can do is update you on how our family is, how Jay is, and what little things you can do for our country and the world.
With everyone worried about Coronavirus I thought this might be a good time to share some ideas for a staycation at home with your kids. While we are washing our hands often and changing our clothes once we have been around town, we are not taking any other precautions. We are evening flying next week, all Jay has said to me about it is "it is coming". But from what I have learned about it is it isn't really that bad for people who aren't in the high risk category. I urge you to do your own research and do what makes you feel comfortable for your family. So if you are trying to lay low here are a few activities.
I love doing special evenings and activities for my kids or when my brothers kids spend the night. So I thought I'd share with you some fun staycation ideas. As Spring Break approaches this might be fun to do if you aren't planning on heading out of town.
My poor kids and I have been lucky enough to have eczema. While all 3 of us have different symptoms and technically different types they all fall under the eczema umbrella. After seeing multiple dermatologists we eventually ended up at Seattle Children's dermatology for different issues but since I had a top pediatric dermatologist ear, I thought I'd get my questions in about eczema and diaper rash. She was amazing and spent 50% of the appointment talking with about eczema (which wasn't what we were even there for). After giving us a wealth of knowledge I thought I would pass it on. Please remember to consult your doctor before making medical changes.
Oh bad habits we all have them. As another year ticks by I am trying my best to rid my life of bad habits. I am highlighting 5 habits that need to go out the door from snoozing your alarm clock, setting timers on your social media, to anxiety and what anxiety I struggle with. Here are my 5 habits I can hopefully cut out.
I am all about indoor kids activities during the winter. Maybe I spoil them by setting up an activity most days but honestly they will play in it for hours so it is worth it in the end. I always think I missed my calling as a preschool teacher or something cause I just have way too much fun creating activities for the kids. So here are 5 indoor activities that entertain the kids from 1 year all the way up to 6 year olds.
New year new diet.... that is often people's motto but I have never been one to "diet". I am ALL about eating healthy and eating what your body craves. Jay and I eat pretty clean at home most of the time and I am always looking to create new recipes Jay and I will both enjoy. So here is my new lunch favorite Thai chicken quinoa bowls. You can make everything ahead and then make a new bowl every day at lunch this way it keeps all the ingredients fresh.
This year I am doing my "resolutions" a little differently. I love working towards a goal and I figured this year I will pick a goal to accomplish every month. From No Shop January to finding something to volunteer for in October. These goals get me to accomplish or try something I've been putting of doing every month. I have never done this type of resolution or seen anyone do this but I randomly thought of it and decided it would be fun to try. I am printing out a cute version of these monthly goals to hang by our calendar to keep me on track. I cant wait to report back to you with how it is going. So here is my list...
