Covid19, coronavirus, pandemic....whatever you want to call it. Regardless of the name it SUCKS! I have been so humbled my the amount of texts, dms, emails, calls etc asking about Jay and how he is doing and if I am freaking out. I hadn't planned on blogging during this whole thing cause it seems weird to give you a new link to a dress or talk about my “homeschooling" or my "home workouts" when so many people are struggling with their health, finances, anxiety etc. It just doesn't seem right given the climate but what I can do is update you on how our family is, how Jay is, and what little things you can do for our country and the world.
This year I am doing my "resolutions" a little differently. I love working towards a goal and I figured this year I will pick a goal to accomplish every month. From No Shop January to finding something to volunteer for in October. These goals get me to accomplish or try something I've been putting of doing every month. I have never done this type of resolution or seen anyone do this but I randomly thought of it and decided it would be fun to try. I am printing out a cute version of these monthly goals to hang by our calendar to keep me on track. I cant wait to report back to you with how it is going. So here is my list...
Because guys seem to be the hardest to buy for here is my holiday gift guide. I think one of the best things you can do this year is a family gift. Something he could use to play with the kids and also is fun for him. No lying here I pick 3 big gifts for Jay and ask which one he wants. This takes his typical response of " I don't know" out of it. I usually present him with photos of the 3 options then have him pick. This year he picked the Bowflex Adjustable weights so that's what he is getting. Then I throw in a few other "fun" items and a stocking stuffer. But note to self I really wanted one of the "family" gifts so I messed up as a wife and should of given him one of those as an option... live and learn! Next year!
I surprised Leo this year with a new Christmas "dino" room. To say he was thrilled was an understatement. I made most everything and I wanted to show you how easy it is to swap out a few things in your kids room to get them in the Christmas spirit. So buckle up my DIY friends and check out how to make a wreath and a diorama for your kiddos and a few other little touches that will transform their room for Christmas.
Ok so I was so worried about going on a cruise. When we were brainstorming ideas with some friends they suggested a 3 or 4 day cruise instead of our usual Vegas trip. My first instinct was to say HELL NO. The whole idea of a cruise bothered me. Let me lay out for you my top 5 reason.
1. Being stuck on a boat ummm what would we do for 3 days. 2. Being in the middle of an ocean and getting rough seas which leads to #3. 3. Being motion sick and puking the entire time. 4. Seeing other people with motion sickness puking everywhere (I have a major fear of puke). 5. Eating from a buffet I am SOOOO not a buffet kinda gal for a lot of reasons mostly the germ aspect. Well....let me tell you it wasn't anything like I had imagined. I am by NO MEANS a cruise expert but I posted some instagram stories from the cruise and got over 20 different messages about cruises and if I liked it. Who would of thought that many people would have similar fears as me. So let me break it down to you, what I loved and didn't love and what was my final take on cruises.
Every year I love to do a little round out of my favorite products. Lately I have been asked quite a bit about my foundation which surprises everyone when I tell them most things I use are from the drug store. So today I am sharing with you my favorite everyday wear drug store foundation and some other face products that I use 24/7!
I feel like I have fall decor up from September 15 till December 1, for this reason I break my fall decor up into 2 themes, halloween and then traditional fall decor. So mid September- Oct 31 we are all about skulls spiders and moody halloween decor, then November I swap mine out for more traditional "Thanksgiving" decor. Yes this seems like more work but I just love all the halloween stuff and can't turn down a skull if my life depended on it. A lot of Halloween decor to me looks cheap and so cheesy I opt for dark, moody, and stylish. Basically a sophisticated take on Halloween if that is such a thing (bachelor lovers remember Catherine Giudici term for her wedding "grown sexy") Well this is my version on halloween called sophicated spooky!
So one of my most read blog post is always my book recommendations. I don't think I have a great eye for picking out books I think it is more that I go through about 50 a year so I have a quite a few to sort through before I recommend them. I read or listen to a book a week sometimes more. I know it seems a little extreme but I do enjoy it. I listen to about 90% of them it is just easier for me to get through them taster, plus I listen to than an hour before bed most nights. I also listen to them sped up. Jay thinks it is crazy but once I get into a rhythm the faster speed doesn't bother me. So I am going to tell you guys my top books from the past year!
Jay and I are pretty sure we are done having kids for a million reasons, the first being our family does really feel complete with our little boy and baby girl. These two kids fill me up with so much love and I really don't have that grand desire for another. I could probably be persuaded to have another one if Jay REALLY REALLY WANTS ONE, but he says he's 250% done so that solves that. We always had the idea that we would probably only have 2 kids and when we found out we were having a girl it was the nail in the coffin. A boy and a girl, two healthy babies, and 2 very terrible deliveries for this mama. With that being said.... I love that our family is complete and that Monroe is growing out of her baby stage but I'm also a little bit sad. Actually all the milestones with Monroe make me sad. With Leo I looked forward to every one, I looked forward to him gaining his independence and mastering new skills. But with Monroe I just want to freeze time.
It is that time of the year... Spring Cleaning! We have all watched Marie Kondo by now and hopefully did some major organizing and cleaning out your closets, garage, kitchen, office etc. This spring cleaning isn't about closet organizing and what to donate, but it is about deep cleaning. Something that isn't quite my favorite thing to do but I makes sure on the weekends in the Spring I take some time to deep clean. I also outsource one part of my cleaning every year and that's my carpets or my furniture. So here are 5 things I do every Spring!
