Jay and I are pretty sure we are done having kids for a million reasons, the first being our family does really feel complete with our little boy and baby girl. These two kids fill me up with so much love and I really don't have that grand desire for another. I could probably be persuaded to have another one if Jay REALLY REALLY WANTS ONE, but he says he's 250% done so that solves that. We always had the idea that we would probably only have 2 kids and when we found out we were having a girl it was the nail in the coffin. A boy and a girl, two healthy babies, and 2 very terrible deliveries for this mama. With that being said.... I love that our family is complete and that Monroe is growing out of her baby stage but I'm also a little bit sad. Actually all the milestones with Monroe make me sad. With Leo I looked forward to every one, I looked forward to him gaining his independence and mastering new skills. But with Monroe I just want to freeze time.
Just a little Spring floral for you guys. I am a big fan of the floral trend it kind of reminds me of something Drew Barrymore would of worn in 1999. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing but that is the vibe I get from this dress. But as we know quite a few of the late 90's and early 2000's trends are back. Case in point, I wore a scrunchy to my hair appt the other day and then the rest of the day I wore the scrunch around my wrist and refused to take it off. It brought back serious middle school memories when I never left the house without a scrunchy and it HAD to match my outfit. I won't be adding Dr. Martens back into my wardrobe but I see they are making a strong comeback. Sorry I got sidetracked there but back to this post about the floral dress.....
Hi! Happy Easter weekend, boy is it a busy one for us. My Husband had a great idea to get 6,000 lbs of pea gravel delivered today for our swing set so we will be shoveling and moving gravel al weekend. Woo-Hoo! So about 2 months ago I started doing lunch meal prep and I wanted to share those ideas with you. I've been trying to work on my #summerbod and if I don't have lunches prepped for the week I am setting myself up for failure. So I prep all my food Monday when I have a sitter and eat it Mon-Thur. Then Thursday I usually do my prep from Fri-Sun. I don't always eat every lunch at home on the weekends, but if I know I am going to be home I'll make something for myself. Here are my 4 go to lunches I pretty much eat ground turkey most days but, as it starts getting warmer I'll start adding in some chicken salads.
I did a poll a few weeks ago on instagram about different trends to try one of them was the cropped jean. It was about a 80/20 split on people saying I should give them a go. After ordering a few pair I realized to truly get the "cropped" look I had to order petite jeans. I am 5'5" and all the regular cropped jeans just look like ankle cut on me... so that is a hack if you are 5'5" and below order petite. But I'm here to give them a go. I didn't buy any that were too expensive I kept it under $100 in case this trend goes out the window by next Spring. Oh and don't mind Monroe in all the photos she wouldn't let me put her down.... biggest mamas girl EVER!
So I posted on instagram a month of two ago but about my fire ladder and a few other of my fire safety items. I was surprised to see how many comments I got so I thought I'd put together some of our fire safety tips. Leo is now at the age where we understands dangerous situations so we have started talking about these important topics. I have quite a few little things to touch upon so I thought I'd do a 2 part blog post on our safety plans and tips we practice in our house and some things that I need to address as he gets older. With that let's talk about fire safety.
It is that time of the year... Spring Cleaning! We have all watched Marie Kondo by now and hopefully did some major organizing and cleaning out your closets, garage, kitchen, office etc. This spring cleaning isn't about closet organizing and what to donate, but it is about deep cleaning. Something that isn't quite my favorite thing to do but I makes sure on the weekends in the Spring I take some time to deep clean. I also outsource one part of my cleaning every year and that's my carpets or my furniture. So here are 5 things I do every Spring!
A half a year with our little missy sissy Monroe. Where has the time gone and mostly I keep asking how did we get another good sleeper? I feel like we hit the jackpot with her. She has been such a great little baby, but we have yet to figure out what her personality will be like. I am thinking she is a bit more serious and cautious like her Daddy, she looks 100% like me as a baby chubby cheeks and all. I'm talking a bit today about our schedule and how I'm balancing two.
Happy Friday! I used to think this type of clothes were just a typical "Momiform" but then I noticed our babysitter who is so cute and stylish wearing all this cute athletic wear to babysit. Then she came with us to Seattle and was sporting once again the cutest athleisure wear. So when we got a little bit of away time from the kids (thanks Jay for babysitting) she went shopping with me. Nothing makes you feel more old (I'm 33) than shopping with an 18 year old. I thought I was in on the newest trends but I wasn't! So when SHE spotted this pull over at Zara and they didn't have her size I figured I could try it on....
Self care is SOOO important especially for us Mamas. I think as mom's our "self care" gets pushed to the background because we are so busy tending to our kids and households. It is the first thing to go. I noticed this a lot when I had Leo. I was so busy juggling having a new baby that I couldn't even think about taking 30 minutes a day to workout or something. Let's just say I didn't have the best postpartum situation. Eventually once Leo got older I started having babysitters come a few times a week for a couple hours so I could get out of the house and have some "me time". So with Monroe I was bound to keep up my "self care" routine.
I had been so pumped for Leo's Bug Birthday. I had literally been planning this birthday for months. As we watched the weather for the weekend of his birthday we saw a legit blizzard was coming 4-6 inches of snow and 30 mph winds. We decided to move the party to Sunday, still the weather didn't improve much, but we did have 7 little friends make it to celebrate with Leo. We had 17 kids that had RSVPed yes so needless to say ALOT of them were unable to attend. It is funny because my birthday is a week before and my Mom told me my 3rd birthday was also snowed out and only 1 friend was able to come to my party. I guess 3rd birthdays just don't go in our favor.
Since I put in a lot of work I figured I'd share the birthday as a blog post. I think the key in doing at home birthdays for young kids (in the winter) is to have a lot of different activities for them to do. Despite the low attendance we had a blast and the next day Leo's cousins were able to finally get out of their driveway and they came over and we did all the activities again. So basically we got to have 2 parties so I think it was worth it! |
